雅魯藏布大峽谷

The Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, located between Pai Town in Milin City and Medog County in Nyingchi, Tibet, is the world’s deepest and longest canyon and a national 5A-level scenic area. It was ranked first among China’s most beautiful canyons by *National Geographic China* and is considered one of Tibet’s three world-class cultural and tourism resources, alongside the Potala Palace and Mount Everest. The canyon is 504.6 kilometers long, with an average depth of 2,268 meters and a maximum depth of 6,009 meters; The river winds around the 7,782-meter-high Mount Namcha Barwa, forming an iconic horseshoe-shaped Ω-bend, and the massive topographic drop creates an exceptionally magnificent landscape. It serves as the primary moisture corridor through which warm, humid air currents from the Indian Ocean enter the plateau, fostering nine distinct vertical ecological zones. Within just a few dozen kilometers, it encompasses tropical rainforests, temperate forests, alpine meadows, and glacial snowfields, earning it the title of the plateau’s natural biological gene bank. With its dense forests and high oxygen levels, visitors traveling to Tibet are less likely to experience altitude sickness.
