景點介紹
Everest Base Camp is located in Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet, at an elevation of approximately 5,200 meters. It is the central area where ordinary tourists can safely reach and gaze up at Mount Everest, the roof of the world, from close range. It is primarily divided into the Tourist Base Camp and the Professional Climbers’ Base Camp. The “Tourist Base Camp,” which is typically visited by general tourists, is located near Rongbuk Monastery. Not only is this an excellent spot to view Mount Everest’s “Golden Summit” and the vast starry sky, but it also features iconic photo spots such as the 8,848.86-meter elevation survey monument. Camp facilities underwent a comprehensive upgrade in 2025 and are now equipped with new windproof and insulated tents, a variety of accommodation options, dining facilities, and a supermarket. Medical services—including free blood pressure checks and oxygen therapy—are also provided to ensure a safer and more comfortable high-altitude travel experience. Visitors must obtain a border pass in advance to access this area. The best travel seasons are April through June and September through October each year, when clear weather and high visibility offer the best chance to catch a glimpse of Mount Everest.
